The Haywire Twist and Barrel Roll

The Haywire Twist and Barrel Roll, is used when the fish have teeth and you need a wire bite tippet.

A LOOP is formed in the single stand wire that allows for free movement of the fly.

Single Strand Wire gives you extra security from the power of mackerel teeth. Use the same knot to attach a swivel or brass ring to the other end of the wire making a non abrasive connection point for your leader.

IMPORTANT - Don't trim the tag end with wire cutters! This will leave a very sharp tag that will cut you when handling the rig. Using the 'crank handle' and metal fatigue will ensure a smooth finish with no sharp bits.

Handy Hint - don't drop the discarded tag wire on the deck of the boat or your feet will end up finding it!
